Pay It Forward. Leader Dog

Monday I meet back up with a family that had a story that ran a few weeks ago at the paper. It's a pretty touching story. Let me know what you think. Here's a little background of what the story is about...

Don Schluchter, 65, of Saginaw, drove the two hour trip to return wife's, Linda, 60, and his future leader dog Bridget, a year old yellow Labrador retriever, Monday to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S. Rochester Rd in Rochester Hills. "Come here buddy, come here," said Schulchter before bringing Bridget inside the Leader Dogs for the Blind building. The Schulchter's volunteered to raise a leader dog puppy after Don received a heart transplant. Instead of paying back the family who graciously donated the young man's heart, Don wanted to pay it forward and help someone else in need. After Don returned Bridget, he was due to get a new future leader dog puppy. This time a Golden retriever.

Wizard of Oz

Shot a play practice of some young kids who are going to be Munchkins in the Broadway of Saginaw's "Wizard of Oz." These kids range from age 10-14 and come from a variety of schools in the Saginaw area. They won't see the set, get costumes, or meet the rest of the cast until opening night. Pretty intense for a bunch of elementary kids. Enjoy.

Feature Hunting

It was nice out today, so I was told to go find something to photograph. Came across the Mid-Michigan Teen Challenge students washing cars. Stopped, hung out with them a bit. Not too excited about what I got, but it's a start. Mid-Michigan is a 14-month, residential Christ-centered ministry that has a Bible Institute setting. They provide a structured environment for the students to work through their problems. It's mainly young adults who had got themselves into trouble as a young age, either with drugs, gangs, etc. I thought it was kind of cool that these, mostly, kids were out washing cars for donations. Enjoy
